I find Godwin's broad view of landscapes fascinating. She generally steered away from the picturesque to recognise the effects of human intervention, ruin and obsolescence in the landscape. When her work leans back into the picturesque and romantic, the formal qualities of light, tone, shape and always give a sense of deep history, narrative and character in the landscape. Found this wonderful documentary last year.
